I loved the film. I have to say that i felt it was rather rushed at the start but suddenly about halfway through, from about the time that Robert De Niro appeared on screen it was brilliant.
The story is about hearts, and the quest to make them your own. Three stories, each trying to capture a heart combine to make one of the best movies i've seen in ages. I dont think ive ever walked out of a cinema with a smile as big as the one on my face today.
The first of the three stories concerns Tristan, our hero played by relatively unknown Charlie Cox. He is your average Victorian Geek, with a really bad crush on the village beauty (played by Sienna Miller). He tries everything to win her affections but the bigger, and more handsome bully makes a fool of him. When he learns that the bully is to ask the beauty for her hand in marriage Tristan makes a deal with the beauty that if he can bring her a falling star that they have just seen falling to ground, then she will marry Tristan instead. And so his quest begins.
Meanwhile in the second story, The King of Stormhold is dying, and sends his 5 sons (3 of which are quickly killed by their brothers) on a quest to retrieve a prescious jewell, the one who retrieves the jewell, gets the throne. The marvellous thing about this story is that when the sons die, their ghosts appear in mirrors etc, and commentate on the action leading to many amusing scenes as the movie goes on.
In the final story, an evil old wicked witch (Michelle Pfeiffer) sets out of a quest to get the heart of the falling star, ingestion of which can keep the witch and her two sisters young and beautiful for eternity.
That falling star is called Vain and is played by Claire Danes. It emerges that she fell to earth when the jewell, which the king from story 2 had thrown out of the window hit her and she is very angry. She quickly meets up with Tristan who sets about journeying back to the human village where Tristan lives.
You'll notice i havent mentioned the brilliant Robert De Niro yet and that is because he isnt a main character. But he steals the show with a hillarious turn as a Pirate Captain, who happens to be gay but doesnt want his crew to know. When the crew finally find out, it is the hillarious sequence that ended up with everyone in the cinema laughing out loud.
The story comes from a book by Neil Gaiman, and as i said at the beginning the first half certainly seems to do too much at once, and i have a feeling that much of the book was cut out of that opening half and as a result it feels rushed and the characterisation suffers as a result. But later in the film that all seems worth it as for the final hour or so the story is magnificent, the dialogue witty and the CGI is breathtaking. And it all comes to a terrific and spectacular conclusion that left me with a wonderful feeling inside me.

If men are from mars, why do girls love maltesers so much?
What i'm listening to right now: The Fratelli's - Baby Fratelli
Its fair to say i have an eccletic taste in music, bits from all sorts of genre's, for instance i love Frank Sinatra, but also i like Mozart and i like S Club 7.
My favourite song for listening to when im down in the dumps is Bob the Builder - Can we fix it. It always makes me smile without fail. S Club 7 does the job too, Sugary music to heal the scars of the day gone by.
If i had to pick any band that i do like more than any other it would be Oasis, i could listen to their "Whats the story Morning Glory" album from start to finish time and time again. My favourite songs of theirs are Wonderwall and Don't look back in anger, but i go through phases. I almost tried to learn the guitar so i could play those songs when i was younger, in the end i learnt the saxaphone. I dont own a saxaphone, i do however own a guitar which i cannot play and which sits in my cupboard gathering dust.
When i can't sleep i listen to classical music, i find that it is very good to relax too and can take you away to other worlds. I also like listening to soundtracks, i used to have the Star Wars soundtracks and could picture scenes in the film in my head just from listening to the music.
I also like Opera, although im not sure what any of it means, it sounds good to me and my ears. I like Evanesence (well one song). I like Take That's old stuff, but think their new stuff is very bland and lacks any energy.
E and I are going to the cinema tomorrow to see Stardust, I'm really looking forward to it as i love fantasy stuff. Airships and Witches and Sky Pirates. I'll do a blog tomorrow evening and tell you what i thought of the movie, If it was crap E and I will shag in the cinema so i'll tell you about that instead. You're hoping its gonna be crap now arent you. Naughty people, Spankings for all.
What I'm listening to now: PJ & Duncan - Lets get ready to rumble

We're Gay
Monday, 15 October 2007I wrote a song today, tell me what you think.
This is the song of the lesbian.
We're anything if not Presbyterian,
We all sing and play,
and we like to shout WE'RE GAY.
So come on girls make some noise,
We dont do it with the boys,
We like it rough, we like it smooth
Young and Old get in the groove,
Chorus
Now everyone sing along,
Come on girls this is our song
Cos we all play and play,
Like the universe we're gay,
Pinks our colour and we know our place,
But we always wanna rub it in your face.
Now i was walking down the street one day
And this guy comes up, says hey
He says, you wanna come out with me and my boys,
I reply, i cant im staying in with my toys
Chorus
We're Gay, thats right, We're Gay.
If you want to be you may
Cos no-one can stop whats in your heart
No matter about the words of some american fart.
Chorus x2 then fade

How stupid are you?
Sunday, 14 October 2007I've been reading today that 2 girls from Florida are sueing Girls gone wild for using their lesbian romp in one of their videos. Hmmm.
They say that they only agreed to be filmed on the explicit understanding that the video would not be used. HOW STUPID ARE YOU GIRLS?.
This is girls gone wild for christ sake, they make a living out of getting drunk innebriated teenage girls to get their kit off in exchange for allsorts of goodies.
E and I love watching Girls Gone Wild. We'd quite like to be girls gone wild girls, it looks like such fun. I love the videos, mainly because they are alot more real than alot of the porn out there.
Heres a word of advice girlies. If a company who specialises in showing teenage girls kissing and fondling each other asks you to appear on film, and you dont want it to be released. Then don't do it!!. Don't go ahead with it and then cry about it later, because it will make you sound like a stupid dumb bitch.
Rant Over. Love you all.
BubblegumSex out.
