Gossip Girl

As a self confessed American TV junkie, i watch alot of the new american shows before they come out over in the UK. Through illicit means of course. The new american TV season started a week or so ago, and the one show thats caught my eye is Gossip Girl.

Set in the Upper East Side of New York's Manhattan, this show follows Serena a girl from a wealthy family who moves back into town after doing a disappearing act six months previously. Her best friend Blair (played by the gorgeous Leighton Meester, who has guest starred on 24 and House over the last few years) isn't happy to have her back, feeling betrayed by her friends sudden disappearance and knowing that her boyfriend Nate, who she’s just about ready to let fuck her, has a crush on Serena. Nate’s best friend is Chuck a conniving Sebastian Velmont type slime ball with too much money, and thinks he can do anything and everything to anyone he wants.

Finally there’s the sweet adorable Jenny and Dan who are poor by comparison and live in Brooklyn, but go to Blair and Serena's school and try to fit in with the cool rich kids. All these people are tied together by the title character Gossip Girl, played by Veronica Mars's Kirsten Bell, an unseen voice narrating the action and a Blogger who's Gossip Column is sent to anyone who is anyone's cell phone.

Its Funny, Dramatic, Sweet yet deeply dark. All the best bits of The O.C. in the Cruel Intentions world of bitching, backstabbing and manipulation.

I love it.

Gossip Girl will air over here on ITV2 probably sometime next year.
